About River Delta Unified School District

River Delta is a K-12 district with an enrollment of 1,880. The District has 8 small schools: four K-6 elementary schools; two middle schools; and two high schools serving the communities of Clarksburg, Hood, Courtland, Walnut Grove, Ryde, Locke, Isleton, Rio Vista, Birds Landing, and Collinsville. River Delta Unified School District sits in three counties – Sacramento, Solano, and Yolo, and is served by the Sacramento County Office of Education.

Position and Responsibilities

Elementary Principal

Definition

To serve as instructional leader and chief executive of the school; to assume responsibility for the administration of school and district-initiated programs involving curriculum, budget, operations, guidance, student and staff; to coordinate activities with other school sites, the District Office, and the community; and to provide administrative support to the Superintendent.

Supervision

Receives direction from the Superintendent. Exercises direct supervision over certified and classified employees.

Duties

Essential Functions:

  • Analyze data to inform decisions and improve outcomes.
  • Administer, direct, and manage school and district-initiated programs involving curriculum, budget, operations guidance, students, and staff.
  • Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of the school.
  • Establish, within District policy, appropriate services and staffing levels; monitor and evaluate service delivery methods and procedures; allocate resources accordingly.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of district-approved curriculum programs; provide, assign, and coordinate in-service training for staff to ensure uniform implementation.
  • Select, train, motivate, and evaluate personnel; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
  • Plan, manage, and supervise school business operations; administer budget within district guidelines; monitor expenditures.
  • Develop and administer school plans and procedures, including student, staff, parent and community activities and discipline procedures.
  • Promote a healthy and safe student learning environment.
  • Ensure compliance with established District policies and procedures.
  • Plan, coordinate and evaluate pupil services, including guidance and counseling; participate in meetings monitoring student academics and behaviors including IEP, Student Study Teams, and 504s.
  • Provide direction and lead staff in developing compliant class rosters and meet district timelines for class rosters.
  • Oversee and direct the use of curriculum materials, instructional supplies, equipment, facilities, and community resources; review and approve/deny facility requests.
  • Represent the school to the District Office, outside agencies, and the community; maintain effective community relations.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents; inform them of new policies and procedures in the District.
