Job DescriptionDVISD’s Department of Human Resources must approve all requests for college/university education field placements. This includes Student Teaching, Observations, and Practicum placements.
DVISD is offering limited stipends for choosing Del Valle ISD as your student teaching site, available only for the last semester of student teaching, with an expectation to accept employment with DVISD if offered. Email Raquel Martinez at for more information.
Students may be eligible to student teach, complete classroom observations, or intern in DVISD if currently enrolled in a teacher degree program at a college or university or in an alternative certification program.
Students seeking placement on a district campus for student teaching must complete the Student Teacher/Observation/Intern Application. The Department of Human Resources will contact the program coordinator and student by e‑mail after the application has been received and a DPS Background Check has been processed.
Placement is coordinated with program coordinators from colleges and universities. Final approval is obtained from the campus principal. Students will be placed based on campus/teacher eligibility. Not all applicants will be placed. Approved Student Teachers / Counselor Interns are required to attend a Student Teacher / Counselor Intern Orientation with Curriculum & Instruction and the Department of Human Resources.
Each Student Teacher / Counselor Intern receives an official badge identification at this orientation. Students must not report to the campus until a badge is obtained from Human Resources. Student observers seeking observation hours only must complete the Student Teacher/Intern/Observer application and may only report to the campus once cleared by Human Resources.
Eligibility & Requirements- Currently enrolled in a teacher degree program or alternative certification program.
- Application completed via Student Teacher/Observation/Intern Application form.
- Undergoing and cleared by a DPS Background Check.
- Will attend the required orientation and obtain a badge identification.
