Primary Purpose

The Project Specialist provides leadership and coordination for campus and district initiatives to support student and family success. This role includes the design, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of programs directly linked to the educational initiatives of the campus and district. The position may also support the implementation of quality after-school programming, student evaluations, coding, LPACs, ARDs, 504 processes, credit recovery monitoring, and other duties as assigned by the campus principal.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsement for subject and level assigned, or approved alternative certification program.

Bilingual certification or ESL Endorsement preferred or ability to obtain.

Principal Certificate or in process preferred.

The candidate must have a satisfactory outcome of the fingerprinting and background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50) paid by employee.

Knowledge/

Skills:

Strong technology skills, including the ability to use spreadsheets

General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Work collaboratively, as well as independently

Protect and maintain the security of testing materials

Knowledge of effective instructional strategies for Special Education students

Working knowledge of Bilingual/ESL curriculum and instruction

Knowledge of effective instructional strategies for Emergent Bilingual students

Knowledge of concepts regarding the nature of language acquisition

Understanding of federal, state, and local assessment and accountability systems

Experience:

Two (2) years’ experience with district and state assessments preferred

Previous teaching experience required

Instructional Management

  • Work with school staff and administrators to identify and address program/project needs.
  • Gather input from teachers to prepare for campus LPACs.
  • Provide training and serve as a resource for assessments related to Emergent Bilingual students.
  • Support coordination of assessments and services related to students, including Special Education and ESL.

Organizational Climate and Improvement

  • Foster positive school morale through transparent communication and support for staff.
  • Support the coordination of high-stakes testing (STAAR, TELPAS, SAT, ACT, AP) and maintain security of all testing materials.
  • Develop systems for test administration, compliance, and active monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate data on all assessment and program activities.

Communication and Community Relations

  • Communicate program and assessment updates to staff, students, and families.
  • Collaborate with district departments and community partners to support program implementation.

Personnel and Organization Management

  • Coordinate program activities, schedules, and resources to meet campus and district goals.
  • Work with DAEP, LPAC, Special Education, and technology staff to ensure accurate coding, accommodations, and assessment readiness.
  • Maintain organized records and submit reports as required.

Professional Growth and Development

  • Participate in professional learning opportunities at the district, state, and national levels.
  • Stay current on research and best practices for student support programs, assessment, and instructional strategies.
  • Train and support staff in relevant program areas.
