Job Description:
The Southern Boone School District is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Middle School Behavior Interventionist. This position supports students with behavioral, social-emotional, and academic needs by providing targeted interventions, promoting positive behavior, and collaborating with staff to create a safe and supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, flexible, and skilled in building positive relationships with students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide direct behavioral interventions and support to students individually and in small groups
* Develop, implement, and monitor behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and positive behavior supports
* Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff to address student needs
* Assist with data collection, progress monitoring, and documentation related to student behavior
* Support implementation of PBIS and restorative practices
* Model and reinforce appropriate behavior and social skills
* Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns
* Maintain a structured, consistent, and supportive learning environment
* Participate in team meetings, professional development, and required training
* Overseeing students assigned to ISS and working closely with them to create structured reflection plans focused on understanding behavior, making better choices, and supporting personal growth
* Perform other duties as assigned by administration
Qualifications:
* Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate (required)
* Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
* Experience working with middle school students preferred
* Knowledge of behavior management strategies and social-emotional learning
* Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
* Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
* Commitment to student growth and success
