Job SummaryThis internal position supports the Special Education Teacher in implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs. The Para educator assists with instructional activities, clerical duties, student evaluations, and routine non‑instructional tasks.
Responsibilities- Assist the Special Education Teacher in meeting IEP goals and conduct reinforcing activities.
- Prepare instructional materials, maintain student records, record grades, and operate educational equipment.
- Collect data on student progress for behavioral, social, and academic goals.
- Support evaluations by administering informal inventories, tests, observations, and other measures.
- Assist students with routine non‑instructional tasks such as clothing, eating, toileting, mobility, and transportation related activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information in compliance with IDEIA.
- Participate in staff meetings and development sessions.
- Provide emotional support, positive attitude, and general guidance to students.
- Minimum 6 months of experience working with youth in an organized setting.
- High School graduation or equivalent; at least 2 years of higher education or an Associate’s degree or higher.
- Successful completion of the state‑mandated proficiency examination.
- Fingerprint/criminal justice clearance.
- Tuberculosis clearance.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates (must be provided within 30 days of selection).
- Updated application reflecting current position and skills.
