Overview

Outdoor Education Daily Trail Guide Now hiring for the school year, to begin September 2025.

The Daily Trail Guide’s primary role is to lead hikes, teach lessons based on the state science standards, and help students grow through a variety of program elements.

Responsibilities

Instruct groups of students in various activities during programs

Develop professional relationships with guests (students, teachers, chaperones, administrators) and coworkers

Perform duties and/or participate in activities including:

Teach the outdoor education curriculum

Lead various program elements including: rock wall, archery, crafts, songs, games, chapels, worship, skits, dances, and team building exercises

Enforce dining hall standards during meals

Additional Functions

Attend team meetings

Provide supportive leadership when necessary

Assist in cleaning and inventory management

Provide first aid and basic health care when necessary

Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Strong communication and teaching skills

Ability to model desired behaviors, including a positive attitude on a consistent basis

Reliability, punctuality, and good time management

Qualifications

Minimum education of a Bachelor’s Degree

Godly Christian character

Current Red Cross/American Heart Association CPR and First Aid certifications

Full agreement with TPCC doctrinal statement, mission, vision, and values, and compliance with staff handbook

Valid driver license

Physical Demands

Abilities sufficient to carry out the essential functions of the job, including the physical fitness and endurance needed to lead hikes and activities

Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions and ground conditions

Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

This job involves a lot of walking, hiking, standing, and participation in outside activities on various types of terrain (often uneven). While activities and hikes vary, some will be strenuous. Applicants and/or employees may be asked to take a Fitness-For-Duty test in regard to the physical nature of the job.

Though campers and attendees come from many Christian and non-Christian backgrounds, all are included in activities.
