Library Technician – Needles Branch
The San Bernardino County Library System is hiring a Library Technician for the Needles Branch Library, who is prepared to work in a highly-interactive and fast-paced customer service environment. Library Technicians are responsible for implementing system-wide programs in the areas of youth, adult, literacy, volunteer, and technology. They also provide reference services and circulation services, perform backroom operations, and maintain library duties such as shelving, checking books in/out, issuing/renewing library cards, and collecting fines/fees on the computerized circulation system.
Responsibilities• Implement library programs and activities across multiple patron groups.
• Provide reference and circulation services to a diverse community.
• Maintain library materials, conduct circulation tasks, and handle fines and fees.
• Operate a computerized circulation system and support backroom operations.
Work Schedule: Part-time, up to 38 hours per two‑week pay period. Weekend and evening work is required. Part‑time employees receive pro‑rated vacation, holiday, and sick leave based on scheduled hours. Retirement and health benefits are not provided.
Physical RequirementsFrequent reaching, bending, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, and lifting materials up to 75 pounds.
Pre‑Employment ProcessApplicants must undergo a background investigation which may include fingerprinting, a medical exam, and a TB screening. The County cannot consider candidates requiring visa sponsorship. Candidates must possess legal right to work in the United States. Applicants must be at least 16; students under 18 need a valid work permit.

- Customer Service Skills
- Computer Usage
- Cash Handling
- Filing
Applicants may test once per three‑month period. Eligible candidates remain on the eligible list for three (3) months. Details will be emailed after recruitment closes.
