Overview

Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta is a 25‑bed Critical Access Hospital located at the base of Mt. Shasta, California. The hospital is a level III trauma center with three rural health clinics and a new Emergency Department. The position is an employed physician role with a 4‑day week of 10‑hour days, plus on‑call coverage 1 in 3 days.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive maternity care, including prenatal, labor and delivery, c‑sections, and postpartum care.
  • Deliver primary care services for patients of all ages, managing chronic illnesses and providing preventive and acute care.
  • Coordinate patient care with nurses, specialists, and administrative staff to ensure seamless, coordinated care.
  • Manage high‑risk pregnancies and decide when to transfer patients.
  • Utilize electronic health records, practice management software, and telemedicine platforms.
Qualifications
  • Board Certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).
  • Residency or additional training in obstetrics with experience performing c‑sections; hospital performs ~30 c‑sections and ~90 deliveries annually.
  • Prepared to provide a broad range of services, including prenatal care, labor and delivery management, postpartum care, newborn care, and common primary care conditions.
  • Experience in a setting with limited resources and a high degree of autonomy is preferred.
Employment Offer

Year 1 estimated total compensation: $337,000 + $50,000 sign‑on bonus paid in year one.
Additional production bonus of excess WRVU of 4,400 (~$20,000 annually).
Yearly quality incentives up to $16,000.
Starting year 3, retention bonus starting at $20,000.
Includes direct employment with a non‑profit hospital, qualifying for PSLF loan waiver.

Pay Range

$173.00 – $180.00 per hour
