Calling all Senior Estimators - Structural Steel

Salary: $110,000 - $120,000 per year.

We provide stand‑alone structural steel fabrication for new design‑specific multi‑story buildings, seismic upgrades and retrofits to existing structures, and miscellaneous metals applications.

• Review bid invitations, drawings, and specifications to determine project scope and requirements
• Prepare detailed takeoffs for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and related materials
• Prepare estimate prices on change orders on existing contracts assuring proper accounting
• Read and understand job bid instructions and detailed specifications
• Estimate all necessary labor, materials, buyout items and equipment costs
• Analyze historical data and current market pricing to ensure competitive and accurate bids
• Ensure projects meet cost requirements
• Meet with Sr. Project Manager if costs exceed budget and obtain permission before approving out‑of‑budget costs
• Interface with necessary department and subcontractors to determine the scheduling of work and materials
• Coordinate with Purchasing to obtain vendor and subcontractor pricing
• Meet with key personnel to ensure timelines of each project
• Participate in pre‑bid meetings, scope reviews, and post‑bid negotiations
• Meet and confer with Owner, Architect, Engineers, Contractors, Detailers, Plant & Field crews to verify accuracy & completeness of all construction drawings
• Review plans and proposals to determine proper procedures to accomplish company goals
• Ensure all aspects of projects are properly and thoroughly documented to protect our interests
• Implementation of goals to increase our Steel Fab, Inc.’s reputation with General Contractors.

• 7+ years of hands‑on estimating experience
• Ability to prepare accurate, competitive bids for structural steel fabrication
• Ability to perform detailed takeoffs and develop full cost estimates
• Proficient with estimating software such as Fab Suite, Fab Trol, Tekla EPM, or similar
• Solid understanding of AISC standards and fabrication processes
• Experience working collaboratively with project management, and production teams
