We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Custom Rug Hand Cutter to join our team. This position is responsible for the precise hand-cutting of custom rugs according to client specifications. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, manual dexterity, and a commitment to quality and safety. This is a physically demanding role requiring kneeling, climbing, and lifting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Accurately interpret work orders and diagrams to determine cutting specifications for custom rugs.
• Utilize various hand-cutting tools (e.g., knives, shears, specialized cutters) to cut rugs to precise dimensions and shapes.
• Work on hands and knees for extended periods while cutting rugs.
• Climb onto and off of cutting tables to access different areas of rugs.
• Safely lift, carry, and maneuver heavy rugs (50 lbs or more), often with assistance from team members.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Collaborate effectively with other cutters and team members to ensure efficient production.
• Inspect finished cuts for quality and accuracy.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in hand-cutting, preferably in the rug or textile industry, is highly desirable.
• Ability to read a tape measurer and understand work orders and diagrams.
• Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to work on hands and knees for extended periods.
• Ability to climb onto and off of cutting tables safely.
• Ability to safely lift and carry heavy rugs (50 lbs or more), potentially with assistance.

Physical Demands:

This position requires the ability to:

• Stand, walk, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
• Climb onto and off of cutting tables.

• Maintain balance and coordination.

Work Environment:

The work environment is a production floor setting. Noise levels may be moderate. The role requires working with sharp cutting tools and heavy materials.
