Position Overview
Senior Accountant – responsible for supporting the Finance team by performing accounting related tasks utilizing generally accepted accounting principles. Reports to Finance Director. Department:
Accounting.
Location:
Calhoun, GA. FLSA Status:
Exempt.
- Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Prepare indirect tax filings for property, sales tax and other related returns.
- Analyze financial data, identify trends, questions outliers and provide insights to support business decisions.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results to management.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, analyzing variances and providing insights.
- Ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support audits, lender requests and tax filings by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Identify process improvements and implement best practices in accounting procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with 1 year in a senior role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations.
- Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., Sage, Net Suite, JDE, Oracle, SAP) and MS Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, detail‑oriented and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Work is typically performed in an inside, temperature‑controlled environment. Works and travels throughout plant environment of varied temperatures and humidity, and wears personal protective equipment, as required. Various operations in the plant generate noise, dust, vapor, and fumes in the normal course of production.
