Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Flight Operations, the Production Pilot is responsible for the hangar, ground and flight tests to certify new aircraft on behalf of De Havilland Aircraft of Canada, specifically for the CL515 type. The Production Pilot also provides technical expertise in the development of flight manuals and checklists and will be required to reposition aircraft to various bases or to customers.

The successful incumbent will have familiarity and experience with TC, FAA or EASA-approved engineering flight test processes and procedures for Transport Canada aircraft.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct production test flights to test and certify new aircraft to ensure they are safe, free of snags, and are equivalent to type certificate.
  • Perform acceptance flights with customer pilots on their new aircraft.
  • Execute engineering test flights to certify modified or new equipment for existing aircraft types.
  • Carry out International Sales and Marketing Demo Flights to showcase aircraft capabilities to potential customers.
  • Perform international delivery flights to transport aircraft to their designated destinations.
  • Entry into service pilot training to be delivered at the customers' base (up to 30 days).
  • Generate detailed written reports for production and engineering to describe aircraft or system discrepancies.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of various technical manuals (SOPs, FTPs, QRH, etc.).
  • Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all applicable pre- and post-flight documentation.
  • Plan flights/trips as required, ensuring all logistical details are addressed.
  • Complete all post-flight duties, including notifying the company of the aircraft’s location when away from base, recording flight times and reporting defects.
  • Conduct crew briefings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a pilot in a multi-crew aircraft.
  • Current instrument rating and a valid Class 1 medical certificate.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive knowledge related to engineering flight testing of Transport Canada aircraft.
  • Proven ability to serve as an aircraft commander while fostering a positive and cooperative relationship with crew, management, and customers.
  • International experience, and/or a training captain background.
  • Strong technical background in aircraft design, certification, or training is an asset.
  • Current Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License with at least 4,000 hours of total flying time and a minimum of 500 hours of command time on a turboprop aircraft, type rated on CL215/415.
  • Ability and willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends, and travel at short notice. This role may require extensive travel at times.
