Software Engineer II, Backend (Identity Decisioning)

Identity Engineering owns the systems responsible for onboarding all consumers and managing their authentication and verification journeys across all product surfaces.

• Break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery.
• Collaborate with product management, design & analytics during ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on decisions that consider risks and trade-offs.
• Support operations and availability by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and participating in on‑call efforts.
• Contribute to team culture by engaging in growth and development activities such as participating in the interview process.

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems; proficient in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiarity with building blocks of distributed systems, and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Strong ability to take a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components, writing clear, well‑tested, and extensible code.
• Comfort navigating a large code base, debugging others' code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
• Proactive ownership of growth, seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills supporting collaboration with a global engineering team.
• Either a Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.

CAN base pay range per year: $125,000 - $175,000. Employees typically start at the beginning of the pay range. Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include monthly stipends for health, wellness, and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents).
