What You’ll Be Doing
As Director of Software Engineering, you will play a key role in influencing and building the future of our platform. We’re looking for a hands‑on engineering leader who wants to play a critical role in architecting, building and scaling the product by ensuring that engineering efforts are strategic and aligned with the company's goals.

You’ll work in close collaboration with our COO/CTO and CEO, building scalable systems and features that improve healthcare delivery across Canada. Your contributions will directly impact the lives of thousands of healthcare professionals and patients.

This is a growth role with the opportunity to build a team and ascend within the organization.

Keys to Success

Build to Scale:  Refine our playbook for high‑velocity development. You’ll evolve our engineering practices to eliminate friction, raise the quality bar and enable consistent, fast and reliable delivery as we scale.

Develop and Innovate  :
Develop, and maintain mission‑critical features that span both the back‑end and front‑end of our platform.

Create and Collaborate  :
Build reusable components and scalable architectures for our microservices cloud platform.

Problem‑Solve Together  :
Join a team that thrives on tackling challenges collaboratively, ensuring robust and elegant solutions.

Shape the Future  :
Influence design decisions, improve system performance, and contribute to Cherry Health’s overall technical strategy, especially in regards to AI and machine learning.

What We’re Looking For
Our ideal candidate is more than just technically skilled—they’re an adaptable, collaborative team player who thrives in a startup environment. If you’re the kind of person who loves building meaningful products and working with talented peers, this role is for you.

Required Skills & Experience

At least 10 years experience as a software engineer with 5+ of those years leading teams in high growth environments

You apply your deep technical expertise and a track record of shipping impactful products to build scalable, reliable systems that accelerate delivery and empower teams to consistently delight customers and drive results.

You build and make decisions from a customer centric approach with the desire to wow our customers

Extensive experience in designing, developing and implementing large language model (Open AI GPT's/other popular LLM's) implementations

7+ years of full‑stack web development experience, with a focus on scalable back‑end services and intuitive front‑end solutions.

Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure (or similar), microservices architecture, and databases like Dynamo

DB and Elastic Search/Open Search.

Proficient in creating APIs, writing modular code, and optimizing for performance.

Familiarity with Agile workflows, Dev Ops tools like Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.

Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
