The Program – Therapeutic Foster Care, Stride

Stride is a therapeutic, family-based, culturally safe, short-term out-of-home placement program designed to support youth with complex, trauma-impacted care needs. The Stride model is a wraparound service that places the Therapeutic Caregiver as the primary change agent, working within a multidisciplinary Therapeutic Team. This team-based approach incorporates individualized, trauma-informed supports, including meaningful cultural connections, to promote stability, healing, and positive outcomes for youth.

Position Overview

The Youth & Family Coach position requires a high level of professional competency and involves intensive, hands-on work with youth in the Stride program and their therapeutic caregivers. A key focus of this role is building strong, trusting relationships with youth and supporting meaningful connections within their communities.

This includes one-on-one support both in the home and in the community, with an emphasis on developing social and emotional regulation skills. The role may involve logistical support (e.g., assistance during school suspensions), recreational support (e.g., identifying and participating in activities), and facilitative support (e.g., supporting cultural connections and supervising visits).

The Youth & Family Coach primarily supports the youth enrolled in the program, but can also be in collaboration with therapeutic caregivers. Responsibilities include responsive, hands-on coaching and mentoring, facilitating progress toward therapeutic goals, supporting individual and group skill development, providing crisis support, , working closely with caregivers to achieve best outcomes for the children in their home, and engaging in advocacy and consultation as needed.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative team that delivers the program from an experiential, strength-based perspective. They will bring extensive experience in trauma-informed care, youth services, and caregiver support models.
