Position

Summary

As a Journeyperson Carpenter at the Calgary Stampede, you’ll play a key role in maintaining, constructing, and enhancing the infrastructure across Stampede Park. This position supports a diverse range of projects from general facility repairs to the fabrication of custom structures for year-round programming and events, including the iconic Calgary Stampede. You’ll be part of a collaborative and energetic team that takes pride in craftsmanship, safety, and delivering exceptional experiences for our guests, clients, and community partners.

This is a union position. All Carpentry Journey persons hired will be represented by Alberta Regional Council of Carpenters and Allied Workers Local 2103.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construction & Maintenance:
    • Construct, repair, and renovate buildings, event structures, fences, stages, platforms, and park infrastructure
    • Perform routine and emergency carpentry-related maintenance across the park
    • Install doors, windows, walls, framing, cabinetry, fixtures, and other structural components
  • Event Support & Custom Builds:
    • Participate in setup and takedown of large-scale events, including custom scenic builds and temporary installations
    • Collaborate with Event Services, Technical Services, and other trades to bring creative concepts to life
    • Modify or adapt existing structures to meet event-specific requirements
  • Safety & Quality Assurance:
    • Follow building codes, safety regulations, and company policies at all times
    • Inspect worksites, tools, and materials to ensure quality and compliance
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment
    • Work closely with other trades including electricians, plumbers, and scenic artists
    • Interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions
    • Provide input on material selection, project planning, and timelines
