Job Summary:
Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, the Maintenance Technician – Plumbing/Mechanical performs advanced plumbing and mechanical maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance across residential and facility systems. The role applies a higher level of technical skill and judgement than general maintenance positions, with a primary focus on plumbing systems, while also completing general maintenance tasks as required to support facility operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform plumbing repairs, part replacements, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on residential and facility systems
- Install and replace plumbing fixtures and components within scope
- Diagnose plumbing system issues and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions
- Complete mechanical and plumbing-related preventative maintenance, including support for boilers and HVAC systems, where qualified
- Provide technical input and guidance related to plumbing and mechanical systems
- Maintain accurate records of work performed
- Completes all required health and safety training
- Reports workplace hazards, unsafe or unhealthy conditions, or incidents (including near misses, injuries, or equipment damage) to their direct supervisor
- Complete general maintenance tasks to other systems - doors, locks, lights and minor construction
Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, kneeling
- Transporting and lifting equipment
- Travel throughout Wood's Homes locations and Programs
- Working within a team setting
Qualifications:
- Registered plumbing apprentice (2nd or 3rd year) or equivalent demonstrated plumbing experience
- Strong working knowledge of residential plumbing systems
- Mechanical systems experience (e.g., HVAC, boilers, building systems) considered an asset
- Power Engineer certification or related mechanical training considered an asset
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and apply sound technical judgement
