Formwork Carpenter

As a Formwork Carpenter, you will be part of a large crew responsible for constructing forms for various concrete structures such as slabs, elevated slabs, stairs, and parkades. You will also engage in concrete placing and finishing, primarily within commercial construction projects.

• Construct, erect, install, and strip formwork systems.
• Form footings, pile caps, grade beams, slabs, and other concrete structures.
• Install anchor bolts and embedded steel for concrete pours.
• Build hoardings and frame temporary shelters as needed.
• Tie rebar, pour, and finish concrete.
• Utilize hand tools proficiently.

• Minimum 3 years of commercial concrete formwork experience, including 1 year of high-rise work.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly.
• Effective communication skills.
• Blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
• Proficiency in concrete construction and formwork techniques.

• Ability to operate a telehandler.
• Leadership skills to guide others on site.

This is a long-term position with consistent work lined up until 2026, with projects extending into 2027. The work is primarily in-town, providing stability and convenience. Candidates have the opportunity to transition to permanent roles and continue to grow professionally.

Work takes place on project sites located in areas such as Nolan Hill and Currie Barracks. The crew consists of approximately 30 individuals, and travel across the city may be required. The work schedule includes 4 hours on Saturdays as needed, with overtime paid after 44 hours per week.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Calgary, AB.
