The Peter Lougheed Centre is offering this opportunity for a Full Time, Plumber/Steamfitter. The PLC, FM&E department at the Peter Lougheed Centre is a fast-paced dynamic environment suitable to a highly motivated and energetic individual. You will be part of a diverse team that prioritizes patient care and leads in workplace safety.

Responsibilities
  • As a Plumber/Steamfitter, plan and perform journeyperson level duties associated with the installation and plumbing services and piping systems, fixtures, equipment and controls used to transport water, waste, gas, air, and steam.
  • You will be responsible for monitoring, testing, trouble shooting, documenting and analyzing performance of high and low pressure steam, hot water heating, associated distribution and control systems and equipment, plumbing, medical gas, domestic hot & cold water, tempered water, glycol, chilled water, natural gas, storm and sanitary sewer.
  • In addition, you will prepare feasibility and cost estimates and reports and request or order supplies.

Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications:

    Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Plumber and Journeyperson Steamfitter-Pipefitter certificates from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.
  • Additional

    Required Qualifications:

    3-5 years' experience working in a commercial or hospital setting performing plumber and/or steam fitting tasks; good knowledge of the National Plumbing Code (NPC); proven reliability, cooperation, and ability to work independently or as part of a team; ability to follow directions and adapt to varying work requirements; ability to comprehend and utilize a computerized maintenance system; experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.);

    must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing; must be able to lift 50 lbs (22.5 kg); must be able to be half mask fit tested; all other duties as required.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    Trades Qualification/Journeyperson Certificates:
    Gasfitter A or B for Alberta; AWWA Certified Cross Connection control tester;
    Minimum 1 year experience Medical Gas installer certified in compliance with CSA Z7396.1; 2+ years experience in Hospital/Institutional maintenance.
