Job Overview

Reporting to the Security & OHS Manager, the Senior Security Supervisor is a full-time working shift supervisor with additional administrative and leadership responsibilities supporting the Security & OHS Manager. In addition to directly supervising security operations during assigned shifts, this role contributes to documentation quality, regulatory compliance support, staff guidance, and the consistent application of professional standards across all shifts.

This position provides on-floor leadership in a 24/7 casino environment with AGLC oversight and public patronage. The Senior Security Supervisor is expected to exercise sound judgement, professionalism, and discretion while balancing guest service, regulatory requirements, and operational safety. While this role supports broader departmental objectives, it remains primarily an on-the-floor supervisory position and is not a desk-based or management role.

Key Responsibilities On-Floor Supervision & Incident Leadership
  • Act as the working shift supervisor during assigned shifts, providing direction and oversight to security staff.
  • Lead or coordinate responses to security, medical, and safety-related incidents, ensuring appropriate escalation and documentation.
  • Provide real-time guidance to staff on policy application, de-escalation, and professional conduct.
  • Ensure consistent enforcement of internal policies, procedures, and AGLC Terms & Conditions.
Documentation & Compliance Support
  • Complete and review incident and shift reports for clarity, accuracy, and regulatory defensibility.
  • Support documentation standards and reinforce reporting expectations across shifts.
  • Assist with compliance-related processes including Self-Exclusion (SE), Pro Tect, AML, and other AGLC programs as required.
  • Liaise professionally with Surveillance, internal departments, and external partners during incidents or reviews.
Security Operations & Facility Oversight
  • Support administration of access control systems, electronic key control, and restricted-area protocols.
  • Maintain awareness of banned-person records, patron identification standards, and secure asset handling requirements.
  • Monitor security systems, equipment, and emergency supplies; report deficiencies and operational concerns.
  • Conduct on-floor presence across all casino outlets to maintain visibility, situational awareness, and standards.
  • Support emergency responses including alarms, medical incidents, evacuations, and facility safety issues.
Staff Support & Development
  • Train, coach, and mentor security staff during assigned shifts.
  • Reinforce professionalism, communication standards, and appropriate use of authority.
  • Support onboarding and ongoing development of team members through example and guidance.
Education And Experience
  • Post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in a security supervisory or senior security role.
    • Casino security experience is a strong asset.
    • Experience in regulated, age-restricted, hospitality, or entertainment environments is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in non-physical conflict resolution and de‑escalation.
  • Experience supporting health and safety practices or OHS-related activities is an asset.
  • Experience working with a multicultural workforce.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Certifications And Requirements
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check.
  • Valid Alberta Driver’s License.
  • Valid AGLC Gaming Registration.
  • Required AGLC certifications (or ability to obtain):
    • Pro Tect
    • Pro Serve
    • Reel Facts
    • Deal Us In Phase 1 & 2
    • Anti‑Money Laundering (AML)
  • Standard First Aid Level C with AED.
  • Alberta Security Services and Investigators License (asset).
  • PPCT or equivalent training (asset).
  • CRSP designation or progress toward certification (asset).
