Integrated Geomatics Inc. has a permanent, full-time opportunity for an Intermediate or Senior Wetland Specialist to join our growing environment team based out of Calgary, Edmonton or Grande Prairie, Alberta. In this position, the successful applicant will complete a wide variety of pre-planning and environmental services with an emphasis on wetland assessments, reporting, and permitting. The successful applicant will work in a hybrid capacity with field travel when necessary.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct both desktop and field-based wetland assessments to identify, classify, and delineate wetlands, using a strong knowledge of vegetation and soils.
- Prepare and authenticate Wetland Assessment and Impact Reports (WAIR), Wetland Assessment and Impact Forms (WAIF), and other associated wetland reporting required for Water Act approvals.
- Complete ABWRET-A submissions, including detailed in-field assessments and form preparation.
- Prepare wetland avoidance, mitigation, and minimization plans and other professional technical reports, as needed, to support project needs.
- Support other biophysical field assessments and reporting including, but not limited to: watercourses, wildlife, vegetation, and soils.
- Analyze and interpret field data and communicate findings clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills to liaise with clients, provide project updates and present recommendations.
- Must possess a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or a related field.
- Must be a qualified wetland practitioner as specified under the Alberta Wetland Policy, and hold a professional designation (e.g., RPF, P.Biol. or P.Ag.).
- Knowledge and understanding of environmental policies and regulations in Alberta, especially those pertaining to wetlands.
- Experience in using industry reporting and permitting technology such as One Stop is considered an asset.
- Ability to conduct fieldwork in remote locations and be physically capable and competent to work in a variety of environmental conditions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team and independently.
- Proficiency in technical writing, problem-solving, and communication.
All field equipment, tools, and a vehicle will be provided.
Compensation:
Commensurate with experience.
