In this seasonal, field‑focused role, you’ll support meaningful cultural heritage projects that directly contribute to responsible development and community stewardship. Your Impact Starts Here – You’ll work hands‑on across diverse landscapes, applying archaeological skills that help clients make informed decisions while safeguarding cultural resources.
Your Impact
- Carry out archaeological field surveys, shovel testing, and mitigative excavations under the direction of a qualified Permit Holder.
- Use digital field recording methods and electronic data‑collection devices.
- Work in rugged, remote, and varied weather conditions, including overnight camp settings.
- Support Health & Safety program requirements and consistently demonstrate a safety‑first mindset
. - Comply with Fit for Duty standards.
- Uphold high ethical standards and WSP’s core values in all field and office activities.
- Complete office‑based tasks such as artifact analysis, cataloguing, reporting support, and background research.
- Demonstrated experience in Alberta archaeological fieldwork
. - Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related discipline (students in progress are welcome).
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain a steady pace during field programs.
- Comfortable working in challenging terrain and unpredictable weather conditions.
- Physically capable of hiking uneven terrain, carrying equipment, and completing manual excavation tasks.
- Strong organization skills with clear written and verbal communication.
- Willingness to travel frequently and remain in the field for extended rotations (≈80% travel).
- Ability to interpret and follow technical and safety instructions.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence

: ATV/UTV certification;
First Aid certification.

CompensationAB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $27.80 – $37.30
• MB & ON: $25.30 – $35.40
• NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $25.10 – $33.80
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
