About the Role

The Technical Sales Advisor will leverage existing knowledge and relationship building abilities to secure specification and application of Forbo products, primarily in Calgary, Southern Alberta and minimally in Eastern BC (Nelson, BC and East), to drive sustained volume and sales growth within the Western Canadian Region.

Responsibilities
  • Identifying target accounts and understanding regional and client needs early on, driving early client engagement and positioning
  • Specifying Forbo products in core institutional and other pertinent market segments within the territory
  • Using and optimizing Forbo’s client relationship management (CRM) tool as a primary communication medium
  • Understanding, categorizing, prioritizing, and managing clients while maintaining trusted client relationships
  • Developing new business in core segments with key decision makers
  • Developing new relationships with End Users, General Contractors, Architects and Interior Designers
  • Maintaining current Flooring Contractor accounts and collaborating with local teams for successful installation of materials
  • Understanding and analyzing the competition for successful outcomes in the territory
  • Working closely with and communicating effectively to internal teams; developing a clear understanding of what matters to clients and providing solutions to exceed client needs
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of related business development experience in the construction industry is preferred but not a requirement
  • Proficient in managing larger projects with longer sales cycles, in both the public and private sectors
  • Strong presentation and active listening skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to get in front of customers and understand their needs through a consultative sales process
  • Based in Calgary, Alberta
  • Comfortable in selling technical aspects of products
  • Ability to travel the entire territory on a continual basis and yearly in North America for sales meetings and trainings
  • Physical demands: able to carry, wheel samples and materials when meeting with customers, some lifting and bending, ability to visually inspect a flooring surface, may require crawling
  • Professional interaction with all levels of management and staff in a fast‑paced environment while managing a diversified workload and challenging situations
  • Ability to build lasting customer relationships that develop into sales and growth in the territory
  • Active, engaged team player with an entrepreneurial spirit, contributing to the regional and national sales results
