Position Overview- The successful candidate will be responsible for cultivating relationships with existing customers and expanding awareness and use of focused Abb Vie Vision Care products in Glaucoma and Dry Eye Disease within the territory.
- Responsible for managing sales at the customer and hospital level in accordance with approved marketing plans and company policies, to attain or exceed the sales targets for the assigned territory.
- Essential skills: high degree of flexibility, interpersonal and client relationship skills, and a positive solution‑oriented mindset.
- Act as the customer expert and manager of the Abb Vie commercial relationships with the External Experts.
- Maintain a macro view of customer relationships and work cross‑functionally within Abb Vie to maximize sales results.
- Work closely with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure internal team members understand and effectively execute against the customer strategy and sales expectations.
- Act in Abb Vie's best interests, seeking areas of mutual interest with Key Accounts.
- Identify predictive and responsive opportunities to co‑develop solutions within Key Accounts.
- Proactively identify challenges to effective customer interactions and ensure the right internal processes are in place.
- Serve as the core customer advocate within Abb Vie.
- Build deep and broad engagements within the Key Account’s organization and develop an understanding of their key priorities, structure and business environment to maximize sales.
- Develop trusting relationships with Key Accounts and grow those relationships to ensure maximum share of the Glaucoma and Dry Eye Disease markets.
- Develop account‑specific strategies in accordance with Abb Vie’s guidelines and values.
- Collaborate with the Abb Vie Medical team and Abb Vie Institute’s Clinical Specialist to optimize product knowledge and business training.
- Create comprehensive and strategic business plans to increase market share in the glaucoma and dry eye product portfolio.
- Conduct regular sales reviews of business territory performance externally and internally.
- Execute national marketing programs in collaboration with internal cross‑functional teams.
- Identify new collaboration and growth opportunities within existing Key Accounts and identify new Key Accounts.
- Manage overall budget and resource allocation for the territory.
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Science or equivalent, or MBA combination of experience and education required.
- A minimum of 3 years of sales and/or marketing or head‑office operational experience.
- Key Account Management experience valued.
- Experience in pharmaceutical/medical sales required.
- A thorough understanding of the institutional/Key Account healthcare sector preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of achieving and/or exceeding business results.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong business acumen and self‑starter.
- Leadership capabilities, listening and adaptability skills.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Proven ability to communicate cross‑functionally within the company.
- Ability to communicate with senior leaders both with customers & internally.
- Fluency in English, verbal and written.
- Highly collaborative with a customer‑centric mindset.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Position requires evening/weekend work, including overnight travel.
- Valid driver’s license and passport.
- Role will be based in Edmonton or Calgary.
- Think strategically to support the development of a high‑quality territory plan.
- Display sound business judgment and ability to assess local market and set direction.
- In‑depth analytical skills to understand data and achieve strategic goals.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with in‑field team members to maximise the integrated account plan.
