Description

Faculty of Kinesiology invites applications for a Research Assistant
. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 6 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension. This position reports to Principal Investigator. This position may be required to work out of multiple sites across Calgary and Red Deer. This position is responsible for assisting the principal investigator, project manager, and other team members according to the project's existing research protocol.

The position is required to follow outlined procedures and guidelines and to work in an environment where there is continuous change. There may be evenings required to contact patients. This position will be required to maintain active Tri Council Policy (TCPS2) training certification, support with recruitment and data collection, including questionnaires, phone patients, consent patients according to existing guidelines, and other tasks required by protocol.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow and adhere to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Guidelines, Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs), protocols, policies and procedures
  • Communicate clearly and punctually with other Research personnel and liaise between researchers, patients, clinical administrative staff, physicians, and chiropractors
  • Recruit eligible subjects for research projects
  • Obtain consent from subjects wishing to participate in the research project
  • Communicate with and schedule patients according to study protocol
  • Administer testing and questionnaires according to study protocol
  • Manage and prioritize tasks and deliverables in accordance with the project milestones and timelines
  • Develop study specific working documents and reports
  • Manage study data in REDCap, Excel or other Data Capture System
  • Enter data as required by study and update databases
  • Transcribe qualitative interviews
  • Liaise with study team to clarify information, tasks, or deliverables
  • During team meetings, report on project progress, provide ideas to improve processes to achieve project milestones and timelines
  • Be present in all stages of project including study document development, data collection, entry and cleaning, and analyses, as well as integrated and end-of-grant knowledge translation activities
  • Maintain organization and accuracy when filing, sorting, checking and maintaining research records
  • Work collaboratively with others to ensure data is correctly scored, entered, cleaned and interpreted
  • Compile, draft and maintain correspondence, spreadsheets, reports, and presentations, as needed
  • Assist to maintain fidelity with protocols for the research project
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Bachelor degree plus relevant experience is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs. Experience in REDCap is an asset
  • Able to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to multitask and deal multiple simultaneous priorities in an effective, efficient manner
  • Requires strong organizational and time management skill, accuracy, strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stake holders at all levels of the organization
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable learning and using project management tools
