Mobilization & Research Assessment Specialist - Faculty of Nursing
Overview
The Faculty of Nursing is currently seeking a Full-time Limited Term Knowledge Mobilization & Research Assessment Specialist for approximately 24 months.
The Knowledge Mobilization and Research Assessment Specialist is a member of the Faculty of Nursing Research Office (NRO), reporting directly to the Associate Director Research Development. There is also a strong linkage requiring day-to-day collaboration and accountability to the Associate Dean, Innovation and Research (ADIR).
This position liaises concurrently with multiple Faculty of Nursing researchers and their trainees (undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows) and staff. The work requires a high degree of accuracy and the ability to re-prioritize tasks to meet multiple competing deadlines. This position requires a high level of judgment and decision-making skills.
Responsibilities- Inform and support knowledge mobilization (KMb) plans and research impact statements to facilitate success in research funding applications
- Support the design, creation, and sharing of KMb outputs (e.g., infographics, social media, newsletters, presentations, policy briefs, evidence summaries)
- Contribute to NRO team initiatives, reporting, and events
- Track, analyze, and report on KMb activities and engagement across diverse groups, organizations, and communities
- Capture and report on research outputs, outcomes, and impact at local, regional, national, and global levels
- Help maintain online resources by contributing and updating relevant content
- Provide project coordination support as needed
- Provide back up to other team members as required
- Liaise with the Faculty of Nursing Advancement Team as needed
- Liaise with other units on campus (e.g., Knowledge to Impact, Research Services, VPR Communications) as needed
- Participate in professional development and peer-to-peer learning opportunities to advance knowledge and competency of effective KMb practice
- Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred (e.g., health sciences, social sciences, communications, or a related discipline)
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience supporting project teams and/or programs, ideally in research or academic settings
- Background in knowledge mobilization and/or science communication, including developing diverse knowledge mobilization products and tools, is desirable
- Formal knowledge mobilization training is considered an asset
- Practical understanding of knowledge mobilization principles, strategies, and tools, with the ability to apply them in research contexts
- Working knowledge of research concepts, principles, protocols, procedures and terminology
- Ability to translate complex research concepts into clear, accessible language tailored to diverse audiences across various formats and platforms (e.g., reports, websites, social media, presentations)
- Familiarity with visual design principles and tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) to support the creation of engaging and accessible materials
- Experience with visual storytelling, editing videos, or layout design is considered as asset
- Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, graphic design and web publishing applications
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written and oral communication skills are required, along with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders, including researchers, students, and community partners is desirable
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with empathy, understanding and respect of diverse and divergent perspectives and behaviors
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, establish priorities, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, analyze complex information, and develop practical solutions in a dynamic environment
