Quality Control Technician Intern – Aggregates About Us
Heidelberg Materials is one of the world's largest suppliers of building materials. Heidelberg Materials North America operates over 450 locations across the U.S. and Canada with approximately 9,000 employees.
What You'll Be Doing- Collect aggregate samples from pits, quarries, stockpiles, autosamplers, and production belts following standardized procedures.
- Travel to sites to validate materials, interact with site personnel, and transport samples back to the lab.
- Conduct routine sampling and testing of materials to ensure product quality and compliance including sieve analysis, gradation checks, moisture content tests, and other aggregate‑related tests.
- Support troubleshooting efforts by identifying quality issues and contributing to corrective actions.
- Collaborate with production staff to promote continuous improvement in quality processes.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the lab and field sampling areas. Maintain testing equipment and ensure proper calibration and safety practices.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on safety, quality control processes, process improvements, and detailed record keeping.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and effective oral and written communication skills to support collaboration across departments.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfort working with technical data.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Work performed in both laboratory and outdoor industrial settings.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, and moving equipment.
- Role may involve standing, walking, operating testing tools or machinery, and lifting up to 50 lbs as part of regular job duties.
- Use of personal protective equipment required.
- Hourly wage, $24/hr.
