The Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency (C.A.R.E.) Centre i currently welcoming a full-time Surgery/Anesthesia Registered Veterinary Technologist to join our surgery service. The successful candidate will possess:

• Excellent interpersonal skills and compassion for the needs of their clients.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work efficiently on your own and with a team.
• This position involves providing anesthesia for our board-certified surgeons. Being assigned daily to the surgeon who is operating, alternating procedures with another surgery technician.
• Anesthesia with a ventilator and epidurals are common practice and are performed almost daily.
• Experience with anesthesia is required. VTS-certified technicians wanting to work towards their VTS in anesthesia are welcome to apply.
• Applicants must be registered with AHT and be eligible for registration with AAAHT in Alberta.

Other responsibilities include (but are not limited to): client communication, booking consultations/rechecks and procedures, starting appointments, taking radiographs pre and post-operative, collecting and submitting blood and other lab samples, assisting in CT scans, and maintaining timely and accurate patient records.

Schedule: The schedule for this position is Monday to Thursday from 7 am - 6 pm or Tuesday - Friday 7 am - 6 pm, with additional after-hours anesthesia requirements.
