An exciting opportunity to learn and grow on a  Chest Focused  inpatient unit. Unit 61 provides pre-op and post-operative care to Thoracic Surgery patients. Advanced nursing skills in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia training. Unit 61 provides care to the very acute Pulmonary Medicine and medical patients. Unit 61 provides excellent learning opportunities while working alongside our Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Educator.

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.

You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

PLEASE NOTE:

Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
• If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4):  NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification: (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..

• Graduation from a recognized nursing education program.
• Recent (within 1 year) minimum 2 years acute medical/surgical RN nursing experience.
• Recent (within 1 year) FMC PCU 61 Cardiac Dysrhythmia certification and clinical experience.
• FMC PCU 61 Thoracic surgery and pulmonary training and experience.
• Recent (within 1 year) experience in a charge nurse/ nurse clinician role in a complex tertiary acute care setting.
• Recent experience in acute pain management.
• Computer proficiency.
• Exhibit leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others, as well as leading teams.
• In addition, the successful incumbent will be expected to:
  Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Must have strong analytic and critical thinking skills.
• Knowledge and experience with the following programs:
