The Rockyview General Hospital Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RGH ED RN) works within the full scope of practice. The RN demonstrates excellence in interpersonal communication and accurate written documentation. They are reliable, motivated, self‑directed, and able to work in a stressful, dynamic environment. The RN possesses strong assessment skills, can critically think through a situation, and prioritizes care based on these factors.

The successful candidate is able to organize and plan care while responding quickly to a changing workload. The RN practices within the Patient and Family Centered Care model and is sensitive to the needs of patients and families.

Description

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, while ensuring their safety and well‑being. You utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making, and you teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.

You provide safe, quality patient and family‑centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

PLEASE NOTE:

Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58–$54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP) certification.
• If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment:

• Minimum one year of experience, within the last two years, full‑time equivalent (1,536 worked hours) in critical care or complex medical/surgical acute care.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Calgary zone Emergency position.
• Current RGH Emergency trained; other Emergency/UC nursing experience will be considered.
• Calgary Zone Emergency Code Room, Triage, and Charge Nurse.
• Emergency Nursing (ACCN).
• Current ACLS, TNCC, PALS, ENPC and CTAS course (provide dates of last completion).
