Our Mandate

Home Front is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending domestic violence in the Calgary area. We are an internationally recognized, research validated, leading edge, coordinated community-justice response to domestic violence. Working together with justice, law enforcement and the community, Home Front shares a common vision and goal to reduce domestic violence in Calgary.

The Fund Development Manager plays a critical role in sustaining and expanding the financial resources that support Home Front’s mission. This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Advancement with planning, implementing, and managing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including leading individual giving, grant writing, donor relations, corporate partnerships, special events, and community engagement. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, relationship-builder, and passionate advocate for social justice and safe communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fundraising Strategy & Implementation
    • Support the Director of Advancement to execute the fund development plan with measurable goals aligned to the organization’s strategic priorities.
    • Identify, cultivate, and support with individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
    • Manage and grow the organization’s donor base and oversee donor stewardship activities.
    • Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns (e.g., annual gala, awareness month events, online appeals).
    • Develop sponsorship packages and partnership opportunities for events and programs.
    • Serve as the point of contact for CSR initiatives and workplace campaigns.
    • Maintain donor records and contribute to a culture of gratitude.
  • Grants Management
    • Research and identify new grant opportunities that align with the organization’s mission and programs.
    • Prepare, write, and submit compelling grant proposals and reports to foundations, corporations, and government entities.
    • Maintain an organized grant tracking system to ensure timely submissions, reporting, and compliance.
  • Marketing & Communications
    • Collaborate with the Communications & Events Specialist to create donor-focused materials and integrated campaigns that effectively tell the organization’s story and impact.
    • Support fundraising event execution, ensuring corporate and donor engagement.
  • Data & Reporting
    • Maintain accurate donor records and fundraising data.
    • Generate regular reports on fundraising progress and donor engagement for the Director of Advancement & Evaluation.
    • Monitor fundraising trends and best practices to continuously improve efforts.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Behave ethically, maintain confidentiality and act in accordance with Home Front’s values
  • Have passion and drive to create and maintain excellent working relations with others both internally and externally to achieve Home Front’s goals
  • Obtained post secondary education in nonprofit management, communications, business, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in fundraising, development, or donor relations.
  • Proven success in securing major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proven grant writing and proposal experience as well as persuasive writing and storytelling.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Commitment to the mission of preventing domestic violence and supporting survivors.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to work with diverse communities.

Scope

  • This position requires the completion of a Calgary Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • This position is required 5 days a week, 8-hour days beginning at 8:00am ending at 4:00pm - hours flexible to meet company needs
  • Hybrid working arrangement available
  • This position reports directly to the Director of Advancement & Evaluation and works closely with Communications & Events Specialist, Research & Evaluation Associates and the Executive Director.
  • This position has no direct or indirect reports
