Position: Marketing Coordinator (April-August 2026 Term Opportunity)

As the Marketing Coordinator, you will support Parks Foundation in promoting our programs and community initiatives, help plan and organize events, and facilitate the execution of our marketing campaigns. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in marketing, communications, and event management within a dynamic, community-focused environment.

Parks Foundation has six major park grand opening events scheduled for 2026 as well as plans for park activation campaigns. The coordinator will work closely with the Marketing Manager and staff to create promotional assets, execute campaigns, support events, and contribute to storytelling initiatives that highlight the impact of parks and community projects in Calgary.

Location – This position is in‑office: 225 – 13 Ave SW, Calgary, AB.

As our Summer 2026 Marketing Coordinator, your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:

Marketing & Communications
  • Create and manage social media content across Instagram, Linked In, and Facebook, including taking photos, interviewing park visitors, and producing reels.
  • Capture and produce photos and videos during events, park visits, community collaborations, and other relevant opportunities.
  • Research, write, and edit stories highlighting community partners and park initiatives.
  • Prepare promotional materials, including press releases, newsletters, and event collateral.
  • Support the development of our internal multimedia library by taking authentic pictures and video clips aligned with our branding.
  • Provide analytics and data required for reporting and evaluation of campaigns and initiatives.
  • Assist with digital campaigns and storytelling initiatives.
  • Recommend strategies to grow social media following and engagement based on current trends.
  • Update and maintain the organization’s website, marketing materials, and multimedia assets.
  • Maintain and update media lists, databases, and filing systems for marketing materials.
Events
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager and our public relations firm to plan and coordinate media opportunities, such as park announcements and openings.
  • Review press releases, maintain and update media coverage archive.
  • Assist in creating and executing event plans, including tracking dates, sending invitations, ordering materials, and organizing staff roles.
  • Assist in securing permits, vendor quotes, and bookings for park events.
  • Support day‑of‑event setup, operations, and post‑event wrap‑up, including reporting and thank‑you notes.
Other
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture by supporting colleagues as needed.
  • Comply with all Parks Foundation Calgary policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the role
  • High school graduate currently pursuing a university degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, or recent university graduate.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to create engaging content, especially for social media platforms (including reels).
  • Previous experience in an office environment handling administrative tasks.
  • Alignment with the mission and values of the Parks Foundation.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for visiting park sites.
