Shop Supervisor
The Spooling Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily department operations, ensuring adherence to technical drawings and project schedules. This role involves managing labor, materials, and equipment to maintain an efficient workflow, while ensuring parts are ready for installation. The supervisor provides leadership through mentoring, performance management, and collaboration with Engineering, Quality Control, Safety, and other departments. A key responsibility is maintaining a safe work environment by completing hazard assessments and actively participating in safety and quality programs.
Job DescriptionOversee daily department operations and ensure adherence to technical drawings and project schedules. Coordinate closely with Production teams to manage labor, materials, and equipment. Ensure required parts are ready for installation and maintain efficient workflow. Provide leadership through mentoring and performance management. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Control, Safety, and other departments. Complete hazard assessments and actively participate in safety and quality programs.
Responsibilities- Oversee daily department operations and ensure adherence to technical drawings and project schedules.
- Coordinate closely with Production teams to manage labor, materials, and equipment.
- Ensure required parts are ready for installation and maintain efficient workflow.
- Provide leadership through mentoring and performance management.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Control, Safety, and other departments.
- Complete hazard assessments and actively participate in safety and quality programs.
- 5+ years of spooling production experience, ideally in Oil & Gas (compression/process packages).
- Ability to read and interpret red‑line markups and blueprints (Isometrics, P&IDs, G.A.’s).
- Knowledge of Alberta OHS Act, Regulation & Code relevant to the industry.
- Strong understanding of assembly, fabrication, production processes, and quality control.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Supervisory experience in a spooling department.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to be on tools when needed.
- Possess some field experience.
- Any type of safety tickets are an asset (e.g., zoom boom, first aid, etc.).

Work EnvironmentLocated in the SE industrial area of the city near the Quarry Park shopping sector. Renowned for work in the compression and process piping space for oil and gas applications. The role follows a Monday to Thursday schedule with 4×10‑hour shifts from 5:50 am to 4:30 pm. Overtime is available under an averaging agreement.
