WHAT YOU’LL DO:
We are seeking a Mechanical Assembly Line Team Lead. This position is responsible for the safety and productivity of all production technicians on the manufacturing floor. Additionally, the Team Leader position is accountable for ensuring that production scheduled for completion is executed in a timely manner and within all quality parameters and for participation in both the hiring and performance management processes.
This position will report to the Production Line supervisor and will work closely with the whole Manufacturing Team.
- Attains full knowledge of manufacturing floor layout, management structure, product/components knowledge, manufacturing/technical processes, “who-to-go-to” with concerns, ideas, questions, etc., Operations and HR rules and regulations, employee corrective discipline process, safety compliance, product quality, understanding order processing/inventory control/labels, etc.
- Directs the activities of assigned production area, becomes involved in hands on daily management, personnel development, audits current procedures and creates required SOP’s to monitor and improve efficiency and compliance. Drives productivity and fosters continuous improvement.
- Maximizes production efficiency, achieves targeted raw material usages, and minimizes waste. Identifies and coordinates the quick resolution of production processes or machinery issues that impact run rates, downtime, or quality, completes all required administrative duties accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintains quality excellence and minimizes controllable quality issues by monitoring key operating parameters to ensure product specs, ensures associates complete required quality checks, reviews results of QA audits and communicates to all concerns.
- Provides leadership and direction to Production Technicians and holds them accountable for their overall performance. Ensures they receive appropriate training. Addresses performance issues including the issuance of disciplinary action as necessary.
- Drivers and monitors safety compliance, conducts inspections, ensures deficiencies found are resolved, completes incident and accident investigations and reports. Adheres to company safety policy, housekeeping and compliance with defined standards.
- Mechanical aptitude/comprehension.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.
- Shifts:
Currently Monday-Friday 7am- 3:30pm. There may be a possibility of this changing in the future as required.
- Minimum five (5) years prior manufacturing experience.
- Two (2) years prior people supervisory experience.
- Experience with electro/mechanical manufacturing preferred.
- Lean Manufacturing (Kaizen)/Six Sigma concepts understanding very helpful.
- Excellent communications, people management skills, and leadership competencies.
- Problem solver, assertive, creative, energetic, positive thinker, able to multi-task, strong organizational skills.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills required.
