Structural Welder

Job Description

As a Structural Welder, you will be responsible for performing structural welding tasks within a shop environment. You will engage in fitting and welding drilling products, fuel tanks, and other structural objects using regular mild steel. The role involves a balance of welding and fitting components for rigs and mobile oilfield units. You will also work with oxy fuel cutting torches, maintaining a fit-up tolerance of approximately 1/8".

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding tasks within the shop environment.
• Fit and weld drilling products, fuel tanks, and other structural objects.
• Work with regular mild steel on various projects.
• Weld and fit components for rigs and mobile oilfield units.
• Use oxy fuel cutting torches with a fit-up tolerance of approximately 1/8".

Essential Skills

• Experience in structural welding with fluxcore and metalcore.
• Journeyman Welder with 5 years of experience.
• Proficiency in all welding positions including Flux core, MIG, and TIG.
• Experience with fitting mild structural steel, including skids, ladders, handrails, and platforms.
• Possession of own fitting tools such as grinders, tape measures, and digital levels.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• CWB ticket - Flat, FCAW & SMAW.
• Experience in Quality Control.
• Possession of an Alberta overhead crane ticket.
• Lead hand and overhead crane experience or ticket.

Work Environment

The facility is located in SE Calgary and currently employs around 30 trades workers. Work shifts include days from Monday to Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, and afternoons from Monday to Thursday, 2:30 pm to 1:00 am, with a $3 shift premium. Overtime is available after 8 hours for day shifts and after 10 hours for afternoon shifts, regardless of hours worked in the week.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $40.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Calgary,AB.
