Leadership growth is something we celebrate at YWCA Calgary. An internal promotion into the CEO role has created two Vice President opportunities for leaders who want to help drive meaningful change. The Vice President, Programs and Impact is a visionary, strategic and community‑centered leader responsible for advancing the organization’s mission through high‑impact programs, external engagement and collaborative partnerships. This leader brings deep expertise in program design, service delivery, evaluation and community development along with a strong commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and trauma‑informed practice.

The Vice President, Programs and Impact leads a high performing team of Directors and frontline staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning and accountability. This role works closely with the CEO, CFO, Executive Team and Board to advance strategic goals, enhance community impact and ensure the organization remains a trusted leader in delivering programs and services that meet the needs of diverse communities.

This position typically works 37.5 hours per week and follows a hybrid work arrangement, with four days in the office and one day remote.

What You'll Do Strategic Leadership, Program Development and Innovation
  • Provide strategic leadership for all programs and services, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and long‑term goals
  • Lead the design, implementation and evaluation of high‑quality, evidence‑informed programs
  • Identify emerging community needs, sector trends and opportunities for innovation to inform program evolution and strategic planning
  • Strengthen cross‑departmental collaboration to support integrated, participant‑centered service delivery
  • Develop and implement strategic plans, frameworks and policies that support program excellence
  • Partner with the CEO and senior leadership to advance organizational strategy, impact and advocacy priorities related to intersectional feminism, social justice and community well‑being
Internal Systems, Change Leadership, Data, and Evaluation
  • Collaborate with Finance, People and Culture, Facilities and other departments to ensure effective and seamless program operations
  • Lead cross‑functional initiatives that strengthen internal coordination, communication and organizational effectiveness
  • Provide evidence‑informed recommendations to senior leadership on program continuation, expansion, redesign or integration
  • Lead internal change initiatives related to program evolution, service integration and organizational priorities
  • Support staff through change and transitions with clear communication, guidance and change management strategies
  • Facilitate program reviews, debriefs and learning cycles to strengthen service delivery and outcomes
Operational and Financial Oversight
  • Oversee program budgets, ensuring accuracy, accountability and alignment with organizational goals
  • Ensure compliance with contracts, grants, regulatory requirements and reporting obligations
  • Monitor program performance using data, evaluation and outcome measurement

    Prepare regular reports for senior leadership and the Board
  • Implement strong administrative systems, risk management practices and quality assurance processes
  • Support sustainable program business models, revenue diversification and grant planning to ensure long‑term program viability
Team Leadership and Organizational Culture
  • Foster a high‑performing, collaborative and team‑based culture aligned with YWCA Calgary’s mission, vision and strategic objectives
  • Build and lead a high‑performing leadership team focused on excellence in participant and employee experience
  • Act as an executive sponsor for organizational change, culture transformation and continuous improvement
  • Serve as executive sponsor for the development and implementation of an integrated equity, diversity and inclusion
