** About the Position
** The Login & Shipping/Warehouse Supervisor directs the daily operations of the login section and the shipping/warehouse section and contributes to ALS Environmental-Calgary’s overall operation.

Specific Responsibilities
** Operations
* ** Supervises and coordinates the systems and processes used in the operation of the two sections;
* Day-to-day coordination of team personnel and resources to maximize production, quality and efficiency;
* Versed and capable of performing the day-to-day duties of all the shipping, warehouse (inc. inventory) and login team personnel;
* Performs the day-to-day duties of the login, shipping, and warehouse sections as necessary.
* Brings staff concerns to the attention of the Laboratory Manager;
* Allocates personnel and resources between teams to maximize section production, quality and efficiency;
* Organizing workloads to meet department/section turnaround time goals, client turnaround times and sample hold times;
* Monitors turnaround and problem parameters to ensure departmental due dates are met;
* Ensuring that all required record-keeping & documentation are carried out within the team;
* Ensuring procedural/methodology requirements are met and documented;
* Provides feedback and assistance to the Laboratory Manager on all aspects of team members’ performance for evaluations, rewards, and issue resolution;
* Identifying the training needs of team members and coordinating and/or performing said training;
* Promoting safety awareness and practices;
* Identifying the staffing needs of the sections/teams;
* Ensures that client bottle orders and deliveries are prepared accurately and delivered on-time in the most cost-effective manner;
* Structure the training for Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) to appropriate staff ensuring own certificate is kept up to date;
* Work with the Laboratory Manager to develop and implement new systems and procedures;
* Perform backup tasks in relation to outbound shipments;
* Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
* Leading and suggesting positive change in the operations of the teams and sections;
* Playing an active role in promoting and clarifying company policies, procedure, etc.;
* Sets an example of professional behaviour for team members;
* Documenting section workload logistics;
* Assists in the planning and acquisition of resources and facility improvements;
* Engages in continual planning and identification of needs;
* Provides necessary information for or composes CEPs for equipment or facility changes;
* Arranges for technical assistance for problematic equipment;
* Maintains a clean and orderly work environment in the section;
* Other duties as assigned by the manager.
** Technical
* ** Supervises the technical aspects of the sections;
* Liaises with LIMS administration regarding database requirements for the sections;
* Develops and implements plans for process improvement;
* Becomes familiar with all section equipment, procedures, regulations and client applications of data;
* Ensures that all technical issues are dealt with as effectively as possible.
** Quality
* ** Ensures section is trained in all aspects of the Quality System and adheres to all appropriate SOPs and procedures;
* Ensures departmental/sectional data approval in LIMS is completed;
* Lead in the development and implementation of new procedures and improvements as required;
* Ensures re-checks, SOP audit action items, and CARs are completed appropriately including follow-up and are done in a timely manner;
* Uses correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality.
