THE

OPPORTUNITY

Numbers, numbers, numbers. We’re looking for a finance leader with 5+ years of experience who takes pride in knowing exactly where every dollar comes from, where it goes, and why
.

This is a hands-on Controller role for someone who embraces the details of reconciling accounts, validating assumptions, and ensuring the financials are accurate, complete, and defensible. You’re equally comfortable stepping back to see the bigger picture, solving operational and financial puzzles, managing people, and taking ownership of decisions that keep the business running smoothly.

You will lead the day-to-day finance function and own payroll, benefits, and core HR administration for a growing, multi-region organization. This includes ensuring employment standards compliance, accurate payroll and benefits administration, and maintaining contracts, insurance, and regulatory documentation. You will report directly to the CEO and works closely with the leadership team on financial clarity and decision-making.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly detail-oriented, organized, and confident managing accounting, financial reporting, HR administration, and compliance responsibilities, while maintaining a relentless focus on accuracy, controls, and financial clarity
.

Growth – This role is designed to grow with the company. As Safesidewalks Canada continues to scale nationally, this position is expected to evolve toward a senior finance leadership role, with increased strategic responsibility, team leadership, and ownership over financial planning and systems.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own full-cycle accounting
    , ensuring all transactions are accurate, complete, and well-documented;
  • Design, improve, and maintain financial systems, dashboards, and reporting tools using Quick Books, Excel and other tools to bring clarity to revenue, margins, and operational performance;
  • Prepare and deliver monthly financial reporting
    , including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and variance analysis;
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management;
  • Oversee payroll, benefits, and HR administration
    , ensuring compliance with employment standards across provinces;
  • Manage HR-related legal contracts and documentation
    , including employment agreements, insurance policies, and regulatory records;
  • Maintain strong internal controls and compliance
    , with clean, audit-ready financial and HR records;
  • Support leadership with clear, reliable financial insight to guide decision‑making; and
  • Provide support on ad‑hoc activities as required to meet business needs.
