Position Overview

SHIFT: Sun-Tues and every other Wed 5am-4:30pm
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES: Identify and implement improvement opportunities in people, service, and cost. Ensure consistent culture of safety, quality, and customer service within high volume operations. Meet all key performance objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the General Manager in evaluating operational effectiveness and recommend alternatives for work methods, procedures, controls, and staffing to achieve accurate and timely product movement and processing.
  • Provide recommendations to drive continuous improvement and efficiency, reducing overall cost-to-serve.
  • Ensure efficient use of operational assets such as warehouse management system(s), material handling equipment, and related equipment, and safety flow through the distribution center.
  • Coaches, trains, and develops the management team informally and through formal training programs.
  • Create and maintain a “great place to work” through open, honest leadership and communication guided by The Home Depot values.
  • Ensure a safe work culture throughout the organization by monitoring daily, weekly, and monthly safety metrics and enforcing policy.
  • Model responsible, ethical, and honest behavior while consistently leading by example.
  • Champion a customer-focused environment, building trusting relationships and removing departmental barriers.
  • React quickly and appropriately to problems and engage in joint problem-solving across departmental boundaries.
  • Motivate self and others to accomplish important objectives, creating a sense of urgency and holding accountable for performance.
  • Inspire and influence others by openly sharing information and communicating clearly and concisely with all audiences.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of The Home Depot business and use this knowledge to make effective decisions.

Actionable Deliverable
  • Build a high performance work culture that consistently delivers exceptional customer service in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Provide leadership and support to associates and leaders for all operational areas within SFC for the shift.
  • Assist the GM and site leadership in meeting all site and shift goals and deliverables.
  • Actively participate in Captaincies in focus areas such VOA, DEI, Operational Areas.
Competencies
  • Ability to comprehend and perform a wide range of job tasks as required for the role.
  • Applies working knowledge of related work area processes and procedures to determine optimal methods for completing tasks accurately, efficiently, and correctly.
  • Understands and is able to clearly communicate the key goals and focus areas as set forth by the General Manager and senior leadership.
  • Demonstrates responsible, ethical, and honest behavior while consistently leading by example.
  • Helps champion and create a customer-focused environment in which excellent service is provided to all Customers.
  • React quickly and appropriately to problems and engage in joint problem-solving across departmental boundaries while following up in a timely manner.
Skills
  • Experience managing within a mechanized/automated distribution center with multiple pick-pack processes is a definite asset.
  • Experience with SAP ERP or Manhattan WMS is a definite asset.
  • Previous experience with managing one or more new start-up operations is a definite asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and working knowledge of Access and Project Management.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Highly committed individual with passion for people and doing what is right for our associates and the organization.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Fluency in use of MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to take direction, follow written and verbal instructions, and pay attention to detail.
