Role Responsibilities

We are looking to hire seasonal staff to work in one of our many warehouses located across Alberta. Warehouses are located in Rocky Mountain House, Calgary, Edson, Whitecourt, Grande Prairie, Peace River, High Level, Fort McMurray, Lac La Biche, Edmonton and Slave Lake. The warehouses receive, store and issue equipment and supplies to firefighting teams within the designated area location.

Do you want to be a key part of the organization and coordinate and supply fireline equipment to wildland fires? Are you in great physical shape to withstand working long hours and have the ability to lift and carry equipment to package and prepare to send out to the wildfire crews? If so, apply today for a great and rewarding employment opportunity.

Warehouse Support (OS2): The Warehouse Support Person is responsible for performing a range of logistical and operational tasks to ensure the efficient management of equipment and supplies. Key responsibilities include receiving, storing, and issuing materials to Forestry staff, coordinating transportation of equipment to designated locations, and maintaining emergency readiness through equipment repair, cleaning, and restocking. The role also involves assembling and certifying equipment kits to meet fire line standards, supporting other Government of Alberta programs such as the Detection Program by facilitating procurement and delivery of supplies, and assisting with surplus equipment management.

During large-scale fire incidents, the incumbent may participate in supply section operations to issue and track equipment. Additional duties include operating a forklift for loading and unloading deliveries and working both independently and collaboratively to meet operational objectives.

Stockkeeper (OS3): This position has a significant effect on delivery of equipment both locally and throughout the province for the Forestry Division programs from Wildfire Management to Forest Health and Forest Management programs. You will make decisions on daily operations independently based on established standards and guidelines. The Warehouse Supervisor may give specific work assignments. Work is reviewed informally on a daily basis by the supervisor where evaluation is based on the work’s accuracy, timelines and feedback from clients and supervisors.

In both roles, duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Receive goods into the warehouse, update database using IMIS program, reconcile with purchase records and advise Supervisor of any quality or quality discrepancies in the order.
  • Build kits for the field using stock items to put together in accordance with the provincial kits lists and equipment standards.
  • Provide receiving services for other areas such as Telecommunications and staff from other fields and divisions.
  • Ship inventory, ensuring bills of lading and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) paperwork are correct.
  • Ensure safe workplace practices are followed; maintain tool inventory, complete forklift maintenance.
