Position Summary

Reporting to the Family Centre Arena & Civic Centre Manager, the Casual Building Service Worker is a key contributor within the Recreation Department. In this role, you’ll support a variety of tasks—from general cleaning and facility upkeep to setting up events with tables and chairs. You’ll also support the Facility Operators with light on‑ice duties during ice resurfacing. This position is essential to delivering a safe and enjoyable experience for all arena and meeting‑space visitors.

  • Setup and takedown for events by following event setup instructions.
  • Handling of tables, chairs, linens, dishes, and various event equipment.
  • Operation and/or use of partition walls, lighting systems, and audio equipment.
  • Ensure washrooms are kept clean and stocked.
Facility Janitorial thousand
  • Providing support in all areas of janitorial work including hourly/daily/weekly tasks.
  • 支持. li support in cleaning dressing rooms, washrooms, toilets, showers, common areas, windows, dusting, and collecting garbage and recycling.
Facility Maintenance
  • Assisting facility operators on the ice rinks during floods by moving hockey nets.
  • At times assisting with minor general maintenance routines.
Successful applicants will demonstrate on their resume
  • Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Previous cleaning experience
  • Basic skating ability considered an asset, although not required
  • Consent to disclosure of a criminal record check
