1 Full Time Permanent Position available at Garrison Green

As a member of the Building Operations Team, the Maintenance Assistant is responsible for the general maintenance and repair of United buildings, property and equipment.

• Building Maintenance & Repairs

Work closely with Maintenance Lead and other staff to ensure smooth building operations

Ensure the general maintenance and repair of building, property and equipment on a daily basis as directed;

Respond to items identified in the Maintenance Binder and escalate to the appropriate person as required;

Responsible for maintenance and repairs within resident suites;

Responsible for parkade cleaning

• Quality Assurance

Daily communication between management, staff and residents regarding facility services satisfaction.

Ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations.

Relates to residents, staff, family and visitors in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.

Three to five years experience in facility maintenance, preferably in seniors housing.

Must possess good interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.

Must demonstrate flexibility and be available outside of regular workhours.

Must have good oral and written communication skills in the English language.

Must be able to perform tasks with minimal supervision.

40 hours per week

Must be able to walk up to 0.6 km at a time.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently.

Must be able to crouch, reach and bend.

Must be able to climb ladders.

United engages professional services to maintain and repair major building components. Staff must not engage in repairs or other activities for which they are not trained or are not capable of performing. It is important that staff are familiar with and refer to the policy and procedures manual when completing job responsibilities. New staff will be provided with a thorough orientation on engagement.
