Key Responsibilities Client Representation and Legal Advice Represent clients in matters before the IRB, Federal Court, Alberta Courts, and other tribunals
Provide legal counsel in areas such as immigration law, administrative law, family reunification, and civil litigation
Draft and review legal documents, including affidavits, submissions, contracts, and client advisories
Case and File Management Manage client files independently from intake to resolution
Ensure compliance with Law Society of Alberta rules, professional standards, and confidentiality requirements
Legal Research and Analysis Conduct detailed legal research and stay current with federal and Alberta provincial laws
Interpret evolving statutes, case law, and regulatory changes to inform legal strategies
Client Engagement and Advocacy Conduct client consultations with professionalism and empathy
Advocate on behalf of clients with clear legal reasoning and strategic planning
Internal Collaboration and Thought Leadership Work collaboratively with senior counsel, RCICs, and legal assistants
Contribute to legal blog posts, publications, or firm newsletters (optional)
Required Qualifications Must be a member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta
LL.B. or J.D. from a recognized Canadian or internationally accredited law school
Minimum 1–3 years of experience practicing law in Canada (immigration or administrative law experience is a strong asset)
Familiarity with IRCC, IRB processes, Federal Court practices, and Alberta legal procedures
Strong written and oral advocacy skills, including legal drafting and client communication
Ability to work independently, prioritize cases, and handle sensitive matters with discretion
Proficiency with legal software and case management systems
Preferred Assets Experience in immigration litigation, judicial reviews, or appeals
Interest in business development or public legal education
