We currently have exciting roles for Experienced Commercial Claims Adjusters for our Commercial - Property team. This role will be hybrid.
You will be responsible for claim settlement of predominately commercial property claims (90% commercial | 10% personal lines) via telephone with a focus on quality and customer service. The successful candidate will work with premier property vendors to quantify the claim and apply cost saving guidelines in the quantification of loss and expense without compromising superior customer service.
What You’ll Do- Support our claims customer demand through a phone and text line environment.
- Investigate and negotiate various Commercial Property Claims in accordance with Aviva's claim procedures and guidelines.
- Confirm coverage and compile FNOL information for incoming claims.
- Provide in-depth commercial claims guidance and advice to customers, peers, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure data accuracy and issue payments to vendors, insureds and experts.
- Review and compile facts, policy, and technical reports, analyze estimates, value of claim and negotiate/settle claim accordingly.
- Advise customers on claim status and provide exemplary customer service while keeping related parties informed.
- Ensure all correspondence is completed efficiently and includes critical path, proof of loss, and reservation of rights letters.
- Recognize questionable claims, subrogation and risk opportunities.
- Review case law to determine liability.
- Meet Property team performance expectations and contribute to team success.
- Adhere to and support policies regarding attendance.
- 3+ years of property claims experience.
- Minimum of 1 year experience handling first‑party commercial claims (building owner/tenant, business income, stock, cargo, builder's risk, crime and equipment claims for a variety of industries).
- A customer‑focused mindset with a strong commitment to delivering timely, fair, and professional claims service.
- CIP or FCIP and other industry designations preferred; must be willing to pursue CIP for provincial licensing.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment to support customer demand.
- Comfort dealing directly with key commercial clients and brokers.
- Computer proficiency:
Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Guidewire. - High level of prioritization and organization skills.
- Critical thinking and coordination with stakeholders to ensure best outcomes.
- Hardworking and self‑motivated problem solver.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Claims adjusting licenses for any provinces (not required, but expected to apply once in role).
- Assist and support during high‑volume catastrophes as needed (evenings and weekends).
