Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35‑hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

What

you’ll do here:
  • Accept, reject, endorse, renew or cancel policies following Intact underwriting guidelines and procedures, applicable laws and regulations and subject to authority level as specified by underwriting manager.

  • Develop business opportunities and long‑term meaningful relationships with our broker partners by providing legendary service.

  • Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company.

  • Answer inquiries and make recommendations to brokers and underwriters through verbal and written correspondence.

  • Participate in broker visits, industry functions and marketing events in support of broker relationship development.

  • Review underwriting reports and make recommendations as required.

  • Communicate changes related to product pricing, underwriting guidelines and new products.

  • Support and mentor team members within Specialty Solutions as well as other divisions at Intact.

What you bring to the table:
  • Post‑secondary education or any combination of equivalent education and experience

  • Minimum 5 years underwriting experience in Specialty Lines or mid‑to large market in Commercial Lines, and 1‑2 years in energy underwriting.

  • Experience in renewable energy underwriting is an asset.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Demonstrates initiative, the ability to work under pressure, and are flexible to change.

  • Strong analytical, negotiating skills and business savvy.

  • Can develop and maintain excellent relationships with brokers.

  • Can make decisions in time sensitive situations, address complex problems, provide recommended course of action and take calculated risks.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products with an intermediate Excel proficiency.
