Social Media & Digital Marketing Specialist

We are seeking a full-time Social Media & Digital Marketing Specialist/Manager in our downtown Calgary office. Reporting to the Associate Director of Digital Marketing, this role is responsible for executing and growing/improving our social media and digital outreach, with a focus on strengthening performance, expanding overall reach and reach across a younger demographic.

This position combines hands‑on content delivery with channel‑level planning and optimization, ensuring strategic decisions are guided by insights from content performance, audience engagement, and platform behaviour.

Who we are:

We are Canada’s leading and most influential public policy think tank.

Headquartered in Vancouver, with offices across the country, we produce independent, peer‑reviewed research on the government policies that shape Canadians’ lives – from taxation, health care, and education, to energy, the environment, aboriginal issues, and economic freedom. We are non‑partisan – we don’t care what political party is in power, we care about the policies.

Our mission is simple: to improve the quality of life for Canadians, their families, and future generations by studying, measuring, and broadly communicating the effects of government policies, entrepreneurship, and choice on their well‑being.

Our research is peer‑reviewed and overseen by an Editorial Advisory Board of leading international scholars. The Fraser Institute adheres to rigorous standards of transparency. We make our methodology clear, our data sources public, and our findings replicable – so that our work can be examined, debated, and trusted.

If you care about evidence, ideas, and the future of Canada, you’ll fit right in.

Social Media & Digital Marketing:

  • You have a minimum of 5‑7 years of solid work experience creating & executing digital campaigns and paid ads management.
  • You “live and breathe” digital media, and you take full ownership of an organization’s social presence – understanding platform nuances (Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, Linked In, etc.) and developing channel‑specific strategies grounded in KPIs and performance data.
  • You design and manage paid campaigns across Google Ads, Meta platforms, and others – optimizing audience targeting, creative, and budget allocation to grow reach, engagement, and conversions.
  • You don’t simply execute assigned tasks – you bring strategic judgement, challenge assumptions, and proactively recommend improvement based on evidence and results.
  • You think analytically about performance. You move beyond reporting metrics and translate data into clear insights, optimization decisions, and next steps.
  • You have hands‑on experience tracking and managing campaign budgets, tracking ROI, and continuously refining strategy based on measurable outcomes.
  • You are comfortable with email marketing platforms and workflows, including audience management, segmentation, automation, and performance analysis.
  • You are proficient with social scheduling tools (e.g. Hootsuite) and have working knowledge of design fundamentals, with the ability to create or evaluate basic digital assets.

Personal characteristics:

  • You want to contribute to work that has meaning; purpose and a vision.
  • You follow current events and have interest in public policy issues such as inflation, housing, health care, and the broader economy.
  • You communicate clearly & concisely & can confidently explain and defend your strategic decisions to stakeholders at all levels.
  • You are highly organized, detail‑oriented, with the ability to prioritize and execute to competing deadlines.
  • You demonstrate integrity, honesty, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
  • You are humble with an awareness of your strengths and weaknesses.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Develop and execute content strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Content publishing, copywriting, scheduling, and moderation.
