This diverse team of professionals provides legal expertise to support the success of our operations across a broad range of practice areas. Responsibilities
Work closely with business units to provide counsel and support in an information technology focused practice area, which includes without limitation SaaS and cloud technology; IT procurement; digital services, data privacy, and cybersecurityReview, revise, lead and negotiate agreements related to licensing, contracts, master services, SaaS, system implementation, cyber security, cloud-based engagements, managed services, requests for proposals and other related digital and technology agreements and advise business units on risks and mitigation of sameConduct legal research and provide advice to various department leads and executivesIdentify legal issues, research and analyze complicated situations and develop practical solutions in an efficient and timely mannerDevelop working relationships with a variety of stakeholders and work effectively with outside counselWrite concise briefs on regulations, legal or compliance matters and other ad hoc legal issues to defend legal position and provide guidance to teamDevelop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses, and industryContribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processesUnderstanding of the business and ethical considerations in exploring generative AISkills and Experience
A minimum of four (4) years post-call experienceActive membership in good standing with the Law Society of AlbertaExtensive experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial and technology-related contracts, such as software licensing, SaaS, master and managed IT services, and integration and implementation agreementsExperience with intellectual property, privacy and data protection, and emerging technologies (including AI) is an assetDemonstrated ability to identify legal issues, research and analyze complicated situations and develop practical solutionsAbility to communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholdersDemonstrated customer service mindsetAbility to communicate in both English and French (oral and written) would be considered an asset
