Position: Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines within Azure

Our large Oil & Gas industry client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines within Azure
.

This is an initial 1-year contract set to start in January . The successful candidate will be based in Calgary - full-time onsite.

Must-Haves:

7+ years of professional experience in data engineering or a related field.

Strong hands-on experience with:

Azure Data Factory (ADF) for orchestration and workflow management.

Databricks Python Notebooks for ETL, data transformation, and ML pipelines.

Python for building robust data pipelines (primarily for ETL and transformation).

Solid understanding of structured data models
, data warehousing
, and cloud data architectures
.

Strong SQL skills for querying, transformation, and performance tuning.

Experience working in Azure cloud environments.

Proven track record of delivering scalable and reliable data pipelines.

Nice-to-Haves:

Familiarity with machine learning pipelines in Databricks.

Experience with Delta Lake, Azure Synapse, or Power BI integration.

Knowledge of CI/CD for data pipelines and version control (Git).

Exposure to data governance, metadata management, or data catalog tools.

Understanding of data security and compliance in cloud environments.

Project Scope:
Support the creation of ETL pipelines in Databricks Python notebooks from structured and cloud data sources.
