Raise is currently hiring an IT Data Analyst on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our client, the third largest producer of Canadian oil and natural gas and the second largest refiner and upgrader with extensive midstream and downstream infrastructure.
Note:
The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
The IT Data Analyst in this role will focus on using data and automation to solve business problems and improve efficiency within our organization’s IT/OT systems. Collect, clean, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends, patterns, and create actionable insights, then communicate these findings to stakeholders to inform decision‑making and drive improvements.
Responsibilities Data Collection and Management (ETL)- Gather data from various sources, including databases, systems, and potentially external sources.
- Develop and maintain data collection and storage systems.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and quality.
- Apply statistical techniques and tools to analyze data.
- Identify trends, patterns, and correlations within the data.
- Develop data models to support analysis and predictions.
- Create visualizations, reports, and dashboards to present findings.
- Communicate insights and recommendations to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into data‑driven solutions.
- Identify and resolve issues with data systems and processes.
- Optimize data collection, storage, and analysis processes.
- Continuously improve data quality and efficiency.
- 5+ years of professional experience in a Data Analyst or similar technical role.
- Previous experience working within the Oil & Gas industry is highly preferred, specifically within Upstream operations (Process Data, SCADA, Field Data Capture, SAP).
- Advanced SQL:
Expert ability to write complex queries, manage databases, and perform deep‑dive data extraction. - Python Programming:
Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, automation, and statistical analysis. - Power BI:
Advanced experience in developing sophisticated dashboards and visualizations that drive executive decision‑making. - Data Modeling & ETL:
Strong background in designing data models and maintaining robust ETL processes to ensure data integrity and quality.
- Cloud & Big Data:
Experience with Databricks and Microsoft SQL Server. - OT Systems (Operational Technology):
Familiarity with PI Data Historian, SCADA, and Field Data Capture systems. - ERP Integration:
Knowledge of SAP data structures and integration. - Advanced Programming:
Experience with REST API programming for data integration between systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Strong problem‑solving, critical thinking, and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex information, including visualizations and reports to diverse audiences.
