Payroll & Benefits Specialist

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Payroll & Benefits Specialist to manage end‑to‑end payroll processing and administer our employee benefit program. This role is suited for a payroll professional building toward increased responsibility and leadership. The specialist will be relied upon for subject matter expertise, sound judgement, and guidance on payroll and benefits matters while supporting initiatives, mentoring others, and contributing to decision making within their area of specialization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process bi‑weekly and monthly payroll & benefits for Company Drivers, Owner Operators, and salaried and hourly staff, and address employee inquiries regarding remuneration.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management and assist with gathering data for federal compliance initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, including earnings, deductions, and benefits.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Human Resources teams to maintain accurate employee data.
  • Act as administrator of the employee benefit program, enroll new employees, process coverage changes, act as liaison to our benefit provider, and respond to benefits related inquiries from staff.
Qualifications & Competencies
  • 3‑5 years’ experience in a payroll position is preferred.
  • Adept at utilizing computerized payroll software. Proficiency in ADP Payroll software is considered an asset.
  • Completion of the Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) Designation is considered an asset.
  • Self‑starter with the ability to manage and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Solution‑oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to customer service.
